You say that programmers like Python and thus it deserves to do well in Web Programming space (or should do better anyway)....

But programmers also apparently like Ruby quite a bit and it IS doing well in the Web Programming space. So why does it really matter which of the Object Oriented, dynamic languages "makes it" in the web programming space? Maybe Ruby is 'making it' there for some good reasons. You often hear how similar the languages are, but really the mindset does seem to be different between them. I suspect that Ruby has something going for it that Python finds more difficult.

Anyway, I repeat the question in another way: Why not cheer Ruby along since it has most of the things you feel are important (except for the whitespace-as-syntax which most of us can live without anyway)?
